Paris: Librairie Gallimard, 1931. First edition. 63pp; b&w plates. 12mo. Sewn in printed wraps with photo-illustration mounted to front. Front hinge weakened, with splitting at head; wear to spine and corners. Good to very good; contents clean and complete.
Early monograph on the work of photographer Germaine Krull (1897-1985), including images from her monumental 1927 portfolio,Métal. Forty-four black-and-white plates, with an illustrated introductory essay by Pierre Mac Orlan, and several additional excerpted texts, including one from a letter by Jean Cocteau. Reprinted several times, this copy is evidently the first printing, and somewhat uncommon thus. All text in French.
