The Marble Faun is a brilliant romance novel by Nathaniel Hawthorne, a gothic pastoral novel set in a fantastical Italy.
Hawthorne wrote this novel on the eve of the American Civil War. The novel follows four characters, whos fates are intertwined in this novel looking at the fragility of human life, and the confrontation between the Old and New Worlds.
Volume I is illustrated with a frontispiece, and twenty-six plates.
Volume II is illustrated with a frontispiece, and twenty-three plates.
Collated, complete.
CONDITION
In the original publishers cloth binding, in custom cloth unclipped dust wrappers. Externally, smart. A few light marks to the boards and spines. Front hinge of Volume I is starting but firm. Light edge wear and handling marks to the dust wrappers, with small chips to the head and tail of the spines. Spines are faded. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
