*Because our clients are mostly jazz collectors and connoisseurs, as we are, we made it our policy to only sell vinyl that we grade in VERY GOOD PLUS (VG) condition or better. This vinyl is in our opinion a Very Good Plus (VG+), looks and plays great.
Record Grade VG+ = One owner. Very well maintained. The whole album and it plays beautiful, little to no surface noise at all. Shiny vinyl. Difficult to find this rare vintage record in such great condition. (see pictures)
Jacket Grade VG+ = Shiny, clean, well maintained. No staining. We grade the jacket a VG+. No tape. No writing. Top left corner has the original labelissued promotional cut out as is standard with promotional Black Lion releases, see the pics. This record is from our personal collection and has been kept in plastic for many years. A very clean jacket for a 43 year old album. (see pictures)

Black Lion Records was a jazz record label based in London, England.
Black Lion was founded by Alan Bates in 1968. The label had two series of releases, one for British jazz musicians and one for international musicians. It released a large amount of reissue material, including items by Art Tatum, Jay McShann, Ben Webster, Earl Hines, Bud Freeman, Bud Powell, Don Byas, Coleman Hawkins, Mal Waldron, and Duke Ellington. It had a subsidiary called Freedom Records, which concentrated on free jazz releases; this wing was bought by Arista Records in 1975.
The label was distributed by Polydor for part of its existence. It became part of the D. A. Music family in the 1980s, while Bates bought Candid Records in 1989 and shifted the focus of his activities there.
Barney Kessel (October 17, 1923 - May 6, 2004) was an American jazz guitarist born in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Noted in particular for his knowledge of chords and inversions and chord-based melodies, he was a member of many prominent jazz groups as well as a "first call" guitarist for studio, film, and television recording sessions. Kessel was a member of the group of session musicians informally known as the Wrecking Crew.
